We have three national festivals besides many religious festivals. They are the Independence Day, the Republic Day and the Birthday of Gandhijl. They all are celebrated joyfully throughout the country.

Importance of 15th August:

15th August is a red-letter day in the history of India. It is known as the Independence Day. We got freedom on this day. So people were happy on 15th August, 1947. Since then we have been celebrating it with love and zeal.

Description (Celebration):

This year our Principal announced that the flag hoisting ceremony would be held in the college compound at 9 a.m. First of all, we assembled at the prayer ground. The Manager, Sri Dharmpal Garg was the President of the function. He hoisted the national flag at 9 a.m. The N.C.C. Cadets gave a salute. Then we sang National Anthem. Our Principal read the messages received from the office of the Director of Education. Then some teachers and students expressed their views on the significance of the Independence Day. The first speech was delivered by Sri Sudhir Verma. His speech was short and to the
point. He gave us an idea how we got freedom. He said, “Our freedom is due to the selfless service and sacrifice of our national leaders.” Some students also expressed their views.

The best speaker was Ramesh Gupta, a student of Class XI-A. His speech was exciting and emotional. So he was cheered again and again. In the end, our President rose to speak. He appreciated the college discipline. He said, “I am proud of being the Manager of the college. Due to the work of students, active
co-operation of the teachers and able supervision of the Principal, yours is the best institute in the area.”
After singing the national song ‘Vande Matram’, the function was over and we walked home happily.
